"Pose us, we have no idea what we are doing." Ashley said at the beginning of their engagement session. Her saying this wasn't something new to me. I heard it all the times from my couples. So many couples get in their head thinking they will be awkward in front of the camera or they have to pose themselves. BUT luckily for them I always come with an arsenal of poses to make them feel comfortable and have fun at the same time! BUT unbeknownst to them and myself, they didn't need any help in feeling comfortable. They were naturals. The camera didn't scare them because they were completely comfortable to show their love to each other.
Any chance Josh Got, he would sneak a kiss with his bride. Ashley couldn't take her eyes of her man, and every pose I put them in, they just fell into it and allowed themselves to be there and present. They might've not thought so, cause they shared with me they were nervous about their outfits (which were BOMB by the way!), but through the lens of my camera, I saw two people who loved each other very much, and were ready to spend the rest of their lives together! But besides Ashley and Josh being an amazing couple, and serious fashionistas, this is not why this session was unforgettable.
We were in St.Augustine, the second location of the day! We started at the Lightner Museum and I was ready to try out a new technique on the couple! For the vision I had in mind I needed to be further back. So, before I continue with the story, I need you to see exactly what happened for your entertainment purposes! If you never been to the lighter museum, Its a beautiful museum with, hallways filled with archways on the outside. This is not the only amazing feature of the museum, it also has these indents that has this four leaf clover shaped fountains and across from the fountains are gold doors leading to inside the museum. Where I placed Ashley and Josh was in front of the gold doors. Okay, you have a visual? Nice, we can continue! So as I was backing up, I forgot there was a fountain behind me, and the next thing you know, everything goes slow-mo. As I stepped back, I tripped on the edge of the fountain, I thought I could catch myself, and just sit on the edge, but no. My momentum was too fast. I tripped over the edge of the fountain, and fell backwards in the fountain. All I can remember is slowly falling into water and telling myself, "keep your hand straight up!" (to save my camera from getting wet) and watching Ashley and Josh trying to save me from falling in.
I came out of the fountain, just laughing. I honestly couldn't believe that just happened. I was soaking wet, just in shock. Ashley and Josh were just horrified, so sorrowful that this just happened on their session. But I assured them, there was nothing to be sorry for! My clumsy behind should've seen that fountain, and my camera didn't get wet, I was fine and to be honest, this was hilarious. Thank God, Josh had a towel in his car so I could dry off and it was a Sunny day! We finished the session, me fully wet (mostly dry by the end of the session) near the St. Augustine boat dock, joking how they definitely couldn't save me from the harbour.
But besides that little hiccup, that I truly will never forget, and will tell everyone who is willing to listen, it was an unforgettable session, because Ashley and Josh were just honestly amazing! They were a gorgeous couple and had love for each other, that was undeniable. That type of love is so much fun to capture and I would fall in a fountain 10X over to get the chance to shoot them again! 🤩
Ashley and Josh you are freaking amazing! And really hope your dream location opens up for you in time for your guys dream date 😊
XOXO, Lindsay
